Learning Disabilities

Learning Disabilities

Careline Lifestyles provides a range of services to support adults with learning disabilities.  We offer a holistic approach ensuring that Service User’s emotional, social, psychological and physical needs are met within our Group of Residential Care Homes.

We provide person-centered support to each service user, assisting them in the development of individual support plans, to ensure that their needs are met, in line with their own life choices, goals and aspirations.

We believe in facilitating our Service User’s progress towards real-world goals and meaningful outcomes, enabling people to reach their full potential in safe, supportive and positive living environments.

What is a Learning Disability?

Learning disabilities are mainly caused by problems in brain development that can occur either through genetic or chromosomal abnormalities. Learning disabilities can affect people in many different ways, for instance difficulty in oral or written communication, and learning and developing new skills. Some people with learning disabilities may have other impairments that mean they need support and assistance with everyday activities.

Levels of Support

People with learning disabilities can be affected in many different ways. Some will require varying degrees of support, depending upon the nature and degree of their disability.  Many individuals will require minimal support, for example assistance with planning and organizing aspects of their daily life, guidance and emotional support. Other people may require a higher level of assistance with physical care or in relation to psychological or behavioral issues.

At Careline Lifestyles we provide a varied range of support and facilities tailored to our Service User’s individual support needs.  Some people may prefer to live in one of our ‘independent living units’ which offer the facilities of a flat, but are set within our Care Homes, others may prefer to have an en-suite bedroom.  With either option, the support of trained support workers and nurses is on hand 24 hours a day to ensure that the relevant level of care and support is constantly available.
